I read this poems on October 7th of 2008 at the Oslo University College in a Literary Evening. There's one poem of Venezuelan Poet José Antonio Ramos Sucre and one of mine.

English texts

Prelude

by José Antonio Ramos Sucre
(from La Torre del Timón, 1925)

I rather be among empty darkness, because the
world hurts my senses with cruelty and life
distress me, impertinent lover whispering bitter
stories.
My memories have abandoned me: now
they go and return with the rhythm of ceaseless
waves, they are wolves howling in the night
shrouding the desert with snow.
Movement, annoying symbol of reality, respects
my fantastic asylum, but I will escape it with
death by my hand.
She is white cheerful, and standing over the
crescent of the moon, she will visit my sea of
pain.
Under her spell I will rest forever and no
longer lament offended beauty or impossible love.

Dream (the rain)

by judamasmas
(from Naïve 90, 1996)

Rain, marvelous rain.

You make noise, I can't hear you
keep looking at you, don't see you
I can feel you, you're not here.

I walk.

The water falls drop by drop on my head
an ocean falls heavily on me
light and thin drops
that in me
weigh tons, thin as glass.

Don't know how can I be here
and not seek shelter ... I have nowhere to escape.

You fall to the floor and travel slowly over it
leaving life and sadness in your path
you fall in joy
don't get mad or it could be worse.

Fear runs through my back
a frozen drop, the steel of a sword
and so are you,
hot and cold
soft but tough, thin and sharp.

I see the horizon ... rain.
I see backwards ... rain.

Wherever I go she step
Wherever I step she falls.
Feels like I will walk beside you forever

But ...
I stand up
and you're not.
I wish it kept falling
Dipping ...
Falling ...
Raining ...

I seeing you.
