Wistron NeWeb of Taiwan was showing a very impressive Linux-based smartphone at CES in Las Vegas. The GW4 is ready for Google's Android OS and features a responsive Linux OS, touchscreen and QWERTY board, and is one of the lightest smartphones out there.

  • iphone is definitely one of the most responsive, and in the *very brief* time I got with the GW4, it was right up there with iphone.

  • Any update on this? Or availability of other Wistron designed phones? Or any Android or QTopia compatible, mass produced phone with similar size?

  • I just hope the screen would be larger.

  • This looks fantastic, very keen on getting my hands on one. I bought a Samsung blackjack, its a decent fone but i find the Windows OS to be quite laggy, and my phone provider VERY BLOODY STINGY when it comes to supporting aps for it, and the costs involved with them.

  • Nice video.

Man, everyone's making phones these days. First the iphone, then GooglePhone, then rumors of the Zune Phone, etc. What's the next? The Wikipedia Phone?

  • lol, Google Andoird Compatible.

  • We're going to see one hell of an innovation thrust from the others now that Google's offering is entering the scene.

Google, Linux, gphone and SDK equals pain in the ass for others in the future. Maybe 5 to 10 years out.
