"Let's have our town back for Christmas!" said Deborah Lilly of MCAN today at the meeting of Byron Shire Council. She spoke in support of Cr Basil Cameron's Notice of Motion to get Woolworths blockade of Station Street lifted over the Christmas period, allowing public access to public space, and normalising traffic circulation. Cr Cameron described the frequent traffic jams in Mullumbimby and the level of public inconvenience caused by Woolworths.
Local businesses have also suffered and later he said that it would be ironic if some businesses have to close their doors even before Woolworths have opened theirs. With Christmas visitors expected on top of the congestion already caused, we need to open the town during the holiday period, he said.
I won't shop there
