No my friend, it has been said 100 times that Hitler wasn't too sure what to do but when Goering promised that his LUFTWAFFE would provide support, Hitler taught that the battle could be won if they didn't retreat, so he told Paulus no retreating!!!! but if he knew what the outcome would be he would have left Paulus retreat. it wa all Goering's fault. he promised support but failed
MaskedTehGamer 3 months ago
@MaskedTehGamer No, you're wrong. It was Hitlers order to not retreat. But Goering promised that his Luftwaffe could drop materials to the encirceled troops so they could survive through the winter, and maybe even break thru the encirclement, but like you said, Luftwaffe failed big time just becouse of Soviet anti-aircraft and planes.

You're wrong, Paulus asked Hitler for permission to retreat, Hitler considered it but Goerring came up to Hitler and said NO! my Luftwaffe can provide 3k tons of equipment daily!!!! Hitler then said "No retreating! Luftwaffe will provide equipments, keep fighting!" but the problem was Luftwaffe could not drop any equipments because of the Soviet anti-aircrafts.. it was Goering's fault! after Stalingrad Hitler did not wanna speak to Goering!

@MaskedTehGamer So, combined with Manstein and Paulus, they maybe had succeeded to break through the encirclement. But Hitler ordered strictly to "Hold your ground" which was extremely pointless when they were trapped. This was Hitlers fault by far. I wouldn't say that Hitler was smart, instead his Generals were smart. Hitler ordered Operation Barbarossa to start in 1941, do you think that was smart? He fought then against 2 major industry countries, later, USA joined.

@MaskedTehGamer It was Hitlers fault, becouse he ordered the army to NOT retreat, instead, they had to fight for their ground. In the early encirclement by the Soviets, Paulus maybe had a chance to fight their way out, becouse Soviets didn't know how many soldiers they trapped in the encirclement, so after the knew how many, they had to reinforce their troops around Stalingrad. Also, Manstein tried to punch hole through the encirclement troops, but was stopped 50 km from the city.

Hitler was a much smarter man, he became a madman only after the disaster at Stalingrad. It was his Generals' fault not his. His generals advised him to attack Stalingrad and then head to Moscow... it was only after Stalingrad Hitler took control of the army but at that point it was too late because Germany was defeated.. so at that point it wouldn't have made any difference if he listened to his generals.
