I was raised as a fifth generation amillennialist. However, as I studied for myself, I came to realize that the Bible does not teach that view! Amillennialists appeal to Matthew 16:27 is used to prove a future coming of the Lord at the end of time, while verse 28 is all about Pentecost. This view is wrong!
@jon083166 I don't know what you're talking about... Anyone who believes the amillenial view is unwittingly calling God a liar. There is no 1 or 2 verse proof texts... The entirety of scripture proved there will be a millennial reign between both resurrections. If Christ was reigning, many would be His feet at this moment as the Psalm and Hebrews passage states... But it's clear this has not occurred yet.

i must agree with ac5tx....there are so many clear cut scriptures that say the kingdom was there during the time of the apostles, in fact the body, the church and the kingdom are all used synonymously....to many people are wanting to take one or two vague prophecies and interpret the whole bible to fit them...when we should be taking the whole bible to interpret the one or two verses

"But whenever they persecute you in one city, flee to the next; for truly I say to you, you will not finish going through the cities of Israel until the Son of Man comes." - Jesus to His disciples in Matt 10:23.
(Jesus to Peter): "If I want him (John) to remain till I come, what is that to you? You follow me!" - John 21:22

Mr. Preston separates Matthew 16:27-28 from the context of chapter 16. Jesus is to establish his church which is the kingdom in this context. This is true or else Jesus gave the keys to the kingdom yet built something else that the keys do not fit. Therefore this is the kingdom spoken of in verse 28. Two different meanings of Kingdoms in one context violates all rules of meaning. So the kingdom of verse 28 is the church. This is even clearer in Mark 9:1, a parrallel passage.
