  • Wow

Finally getting to see Madame Butterfly onstage in Edinburgh on the 24th of Feb this year. Doubt whoever is playing the lead will have the same sheer power as Maria Callas, but will be great to have scenes to put to the music.

  • @TheSaspirilla In any case, I hope you'll enjoy it. At least because it's the music of Puccini.

  • Callas is my favorite soprano, but my favorite Butterfly is Victoria de los Angeles.

  • @JSBach5000 Although I can't agree with you, but I like her also.

  • @zurriussII . Hey there. Funny thing about me, and annoying to my son who is also a singer, I always prefer the artists of the first recording of an opera I ever hear. I guess it is a sentimental thing. If I heard Callas first, I probably would prefer her to my beloved Victoria. I was just telling my son that I love to listen to comparisons of singers here on youtube and I save Callas for last, and almost 100% of the time, Callas is the best of all.

  • @JSBach5000 Lol. And I have the same feeling with Domingo's "Granada". Firstly I listened to his version and now it's non comparable for me :))

  • I saw Madame Butterfly live. It was a very minimal interpretation; there was no set and very little costuming. It was simply the singers and the orchestra. And I cried throughout the entire final act. :)

  • Wow, such drama. I love this recording of Butterfly. The music and the superb singing really gets you to feel what is going on and the tragedy. I think Maria Callas is wonderful as Butterfly.

  • Maria Callas: The voice of the century!

  • fabolous...

  • Madama Butterfly was my first Opera at the age of 7 sung by Teresa Zylis-Gara thanks to My Mother who always wanted us to learn Classical Culture.

  • Tardarán años para salir una soprano que la iguale ,Magnífica Maria Callas.

  • Singing is too small a word for this.

  • QUE COSA MARAVILLOSA!!! AMORE AMORE MIO!!! GRACIAS EN NOMBRE DE LA FAMILIA YEZZI!!! POR CAMBIAR NUESTRAS VIDAS....... PARA SIEMPRE. DIVA !!!....
