i used a full size tower with modified pc power supply on the front and a DVD rom, on the back i installed a seperate power cord for the back pus and the cnc unit. with a switch on the top. in the driver bay i installed additional 24v switching power supply. on the back i drilled 3 holes for x,y,z axis and i added a additional cooling fan. for limit switches i used a Ethernet connector. as you can see in the vid all wires fro ,the connectors are labeled on both ends according to driver boards, i lead all the wires under the driver board and connected to the driver boards with labels on the cables so i can with ease be positive what part is what. there was no room for the HD so i bolted it at the side of the unit. i left lots of room for air circulation. if you follow these instructions for motor connectors and connect the motor on the external connector and hook it up according the the color code you will make the CNC pars take up with no problem.

  • Hello, little question about the limit interface ... the board offers 3 switchports for the axis and one stop button ... is it possible to use 3 Buttons for reference on each axis and connect 3buttons on each axis to stop? At the moment im wireing all together the limit siwtches are missing ... any idea?

  • @BBphilde , in theory you can use just one limit switch exit for all 3 axis. and just one for home position. all depends on your software, some machine require machine train. i believe in your case the 2 thing is possible. 1st did u chose the right address for the limit switches (software) or your switches are pre wired in normal closed position. limit switches need to be wired in Normal open Logic (0) please let me know what software you use and send me your email.

  • Could you explain how you hooked up the limit switches with the Ethernet connector and where they lead to on the driver board? So the switch on the top of the cace you added controls what?

  • @designermite

i used 4 pin Ethernet connector to connect x,y,z limit and common

  • Rather clever set up. I wish you were doing a voice naration as to explain what I am seeing. I would not have thought mounting the driver board inside the case and mounting another dvd rom on the "backside" of the case. So the special connectors A, B and C, that are mounted to the case, still need to be soldered inside the connectors to the wires for the motors as the connectors just prevent wire pulling? Any chance of wires running under the driver board melting? Thanks

  • @designermite

no way that the wire on the driver board can melt, if it does it wont matter the driver board will be cooked by then. off on switch on top is additional safety feature if you power the unit and the connectors disconnects there is a good chance that you can burn it. thank you.

  • Good idea i do like it.

Ive just finished my machine im at the stage of putting the limit switches on. i cant find much clear information on this. but when wiring up the limit switches do you need a pull up resistor and external power supply or is it incorperated into the board.

    any help would be appreciated

    thanks

  • @videogik

    - current settings

    - decay mode settings

    - microstep settings

each axis has these , what are yours set to.....Thanks

  • @Titanis2000

i dont know what pin setting your talking about, 3 axis motor connectors or something else. Thank you for question

  • I have this same board on its way , can you tell me in advance where you have you pin settings . thank you . oh very and clean setup you have done
