For today's blog I want to discuss how major policy changes can be made to affect the education system from the top down. In order for major change to take place, three events need to occur:
1 -- The issue of equality in education needs to be at the forefront of the public agenda. This could be gender equality or equal opportunity to attend secondary school.
2 -- The political circumstances need to be perfect for the policy to pass and major social change to occur.
3 -- An appropriate policy or plan must already be written and ready to go.
When these three events occur at the same time it is called a window of opportunity for major social change. In India it is probably difficult to get the public to agree on a certain issue, and politics are always a problem when it comes to proposing a policy. However I think even if a policy did get passed the biggest problem would be enforcement of the policy in cities, towns and villages. In order for major policy change to occur I think society needs to change their perspective on education as well.
Education must be brought to rural villages and slums of India
