What can a Pee Wee football and an NCAA football teach us about bodybuilding? Tons! Muscle belly length has a greater positive correlation with size than any other factor. Why this matters is that so many spend countless hours attempting to alter the genetic physiology rather than optimizing with effective realistic strategies. By appreciating our potential, we can reclaim hours wasted chasing the unattainable and invest those hours is other important goals.

  • TheJacobf - I disagree that there is no reason to have an athletic body if we aren't playing sports. An athletic build provides the muscular endurance we need to meet the challenges everyday with surplus energy, while eliminating the excess fat that diminishes our health and drains our energy with really no benefit. The point I was attempting to forward with this post is merely that the perceived correlation between time in a gym and muscle size is oversimplified and overstated.

  • @TheJacobf some people want to look good... just cuz someone plays soccer doesnt mean they would be stupid to build a nice looking muscular physique.

  • Two fit in mine tightly but hey guys with short muscle bellies you can get a good peak on you biceps

  • so if u can fit more fingers inbetween the joint and the bicep u have more potential?

  • Great explaination. Thank you for that.

  • i can fit just one finger ive always been pretty muscular but im small in size im 5' 6'' i dont know if that has something to do.. guess that means i have good potential i heard bodybuilders have a distance of just half and inch mine is like 1,6 cms almost there guess god didnt give me size but i least i have a good genetic..

  • can a person with smaller muscle bellies be almost or just as strong a person with larger muscle bellies

  • ok, so there is no way I'll get those huge biceps I see guys in the gym with because it was already predetermined due to my genetics? man this is a downer.

  • genetics required for large muscles according to Stuart Mcroberts Brawn books if i remember correctly

Tendon length - short tendons as opposed to long

muscle fibres - long muscle fibres as opposed to short

bones - large bones as opposed to small

fibre count - more fibres as opposed to less (dont fully understand this admittedly)

im sure there was 1 or 2 more which escape me at this moment, Beyond Brawn by Mcrobert is excellent. I have it on ebook format if you want it PM me

  • This is a good video, too many people out there are under the impression that everybody is capable of having huge muscles its just a matter of how much you train and how good your diet is, they are also under the impression that if you take steroids you can have the physique of a pro bodybuilder. Jay Cutler and Coleman are the equivalent of 7 feet men they are freaks in the sense that they can grow muscle far easier than the average trainee, which is then further enhanced by steroids
