2006/05/05
Daigo plays six matches against possibly the strongest Ken player in Japan.

  • Although it doesn't look very exciting, this is high level casual play. Any and all mistakes are punished. Jump-ins => DP'ed, Whiffed sweep => sweeped, whiffed anything => punished. Daigo isn't even playing aggressive; just using jab instead of fierce DPs, for instance, and being fairly passive with his spacing pressure. OTOH, Ryu is a stronger character than Ken.

  • Dang, why are people actin' like this is no big deal? Dude shut Aniken out convincingly; maybe they don't know what Aniken does to most of his opponents.

  • haha we can hear balrog (boxer) attack on the back when he do some kind of dash punch

  • 2X is sexy, i miss it :(

I agree to not worry about tiers, but to say they do not exist is foolish.

  • @Guoguodi

I find this extremely exciting what are you talking about.

  • its a very high level game because every slightest mistake is punished and aniken's ken can rape most pros. His ken made daigo play on his toes every round. In the end daigo had a bit more in terms of using supers, maybe he had shut out aniken's chances to use super well.

  • Damn, that guy sure has alot of quarters

  • Young padawan did well!

  • ST ryu is no better then ST ken, ppl are forgetting that any character can win if they are patient. no one ever blame the person who use that character. if you notice the character don't move if the player doesn't control it. their is no such things as tiers. But their is such thing as who's the better player.

  • aniken only started to find his zone towards the end

  • Ken has to be on the offensive in this matchup. Ryu's fireball is too good. See how Daigo zones him with those fireballs. I always thought Ken really isn't a shoto like Ryu but more of a shoto/grappler.

  • aniken's unconscious reversal DP to pass thru fireball is definitely hurting him.

in many occasion he's too close to daigo to do that, and get punished every time, and yet he still do it. i guess it's already part of his muscle memory.

and aniken cannot use his usual ken tricks on daigo because daigo can consistently do a reversal. and i agree that he made too many mistakes. i think he can't stay calm after losing a few rounds.

with that said. love his Ken. There ain't many ppl using him.
