Neck proprioception and chiropractic with Fredrik Lundqvist chiropractor

Chiropractor Fredrik Lundqvist (clinic in Stockholm, Sweden) tells us about proprioception in the

neck (position-movement sensation). Fredrik demonstrates an excellent technique for measuring

proprioception in the neck known as Head Reposition Error. The technique examines the patient's

ability to recognise the exact position of their body in space. The patient performs the test

blindfolded and is then asked to perform movements, such as rotation to the sides, and then

attempting to return the head to a neutral position. The computer program Clinicbuddy then measures

the distance the patient has 'landed' from the original centered position.
Chiropractic treatment can have a positive effect on proprioception. This is especially true in

cases where the patient is adversely affected by pain, chronic pain, or suffers from whiplash.
