My camera, the Sanyo Xacti HD1, is experiencing intermittent "black screen." I have read in a lot of forums that to fix this problem is to get the iris blades cleaned. No one in my area has any experience with the HD1 so I took matters into my own hands. I also read that the HD1 is susceptible to bumps and knocks. Put two and two together and you'll see the result of this video.

  • It wasn't too long afterwards that my camera became a really good audio recorder. Just after making this video it went to permanent black screen.

  • As of October 1, 2008, my camera has become unoperational. So like I said in the video, it may be only a temporary fix for your camera.

  • Totally worked for my Xacti VPC-E2! Thanks so much!!!

  • Work for my Xacti CG10 as well. I thought it was a sensor failure.

  • Can you send me a message on how to fix please,my Youtube don't work -.-

  • There are more detailed instructions elsewhere on the web but the UTube police won;t let me post the link. Hunt around for it with a metasearch engine. The job is not for the faint hearted but it fixed my camera (as tempted as I was to just bash it a few times).

  • Soon I read the description of two and two together a light bulb when off in my head. I started to bash the top side of the camera and pop, screen no longer black! Thanks for upload, did not even view your video. You saved my Christmas filming..

  • Holy crap, this actually worked for my camera! Thank you so much....I was just getting ready to research new cameras. Thank you once again!!!!!
