  • lol, yeah and you and I know why but most rank and file punters don't.The punters that dig it don't know jazz, most likely come from a classical background. They have a pseudo understanding of jazz.Correct me if I'm wrong but there is a Major timing problem in his playing.

Any one who is into jazz for real can hear it.So yeah LOL

  • Oh dear. I googled:

Stuart Scharf (1941 – November 8, 2007) was an American composer, guitarist, and philosopher.[1] Scharf grew up in Crown Heights and attended Winthrop Junior High School. He was good friends with guitarist Jay Berliner who was a serious influence on his musical career. In the early 1960s, Scharf was lead guitarist for folk-singer Leon Bibb. (more on Wikipedia).

I hear your playing again - so delightful!

  • So beautiful! I have only once heard a guitarist who could improvise melody, chord/bass, in different styles also, 45 years ago, he was on tour with Leonard Cohen as accompanist, Stu Scharff was his name.

  • Wow.... I am just beginning to play well, but this blew me out of the water, and let me know how much farther I have yet to go. Excellent rendition and some very sweet chord shapes and fingering. Is this like a holy grail of sorts for a jazz player? Like 'Classical Gas'? I happen to be stomping my way through that and have moments when I can believe that I might get it...

  • That's a complicated looking amphlifier behind you. What are those components/

  • Beautifully done, and you make a very complex piece look so easy!

  • Greetings from a new sub in South Florida. Darren this is a scintillating rendition. (I've added it to my "La belle guitar" playlist on my humble channel) I don't know why, but I have a mental block which prevents me from discerning "Stella by Starlight" from "I Hear a Rhapsody".

Either way, it's all good so long as the musicians know! Cheers and best wishes, ~Terry
