id say just put some pads on elbows and knees and knuckles and allow to hit with these things but the elbows and knees pads should be thicker than the knuckles pads :)

I would love to see a martial artist (who is fully conditioned and has a lot of sparring experience) fight an MMA fighter that has been limited by rules for his entire career. That would be an interesting fight. Especially if there were no rules involved. I bet the MMA fighter would need to watch out not to get hit in the groin or throat... he would need to adapt his stance and his strategy. He would also need to use techniques that he didn't train for. I would say he would be in a disadvantage.

Competition makes your martial art weaker. Sparring is important and conditioning is a must, but competition brings nothing to your martial art. It only weakens is in my opinion because you don't train for reality. In sparring you can train every technique if you have the right protection gear, but why would you train them if your BIGGEST GOAL is to fight in competition where those techniques are worthless and (even better) you can COUNT on the rules to help you out. It's a sport, not reality.

perfectly legitimate techniques such as kneeing to the head of a fighter in a kneeling position have been outlawed. I've been harping on about this all week but when rules of this nature are introduced which skew the fights in the favour of a particular style (In this instance wrestling) then certain techniques will be exploited. You only have to watch Koscheck-Daley to see how that fight would have been different if the knee connected and would have been legal.

Continuous takedowns and lay and pray tactics are becoming the norm and are really making MMA dull.

lol have you ever done any mma ? it is a sport not a cock fight that's a good thing if it makes fuckwits like you stop watching that can only be a good thing as well, go let someone punch you in the back of the head with there bare knuckles

They want it to be like hyprid pancrase days that what I see in strikeforce and a little in ufc its going backwards a llittle bc of the wide audience. This is what happens when you expose it to the mainstream. Makes the sport popular but not the sport itself better.
the closest to legitame MMA/ValeTudo & superior format to date has been that of PrideFC's: 10min 1st rd., 4point attacks, stomps, soccer kicks, slams(piledriver), judging criteria(NON-10point SCAM) & RING as opposed to oversized cage or octagon.
don't believe the hype!
ufc is NOT MMA!

@judaschongo I agree. Vale Tudo also has headbutts. But I have to say I like the cage. The whole stopping the action to move them into the center is just too much ref control. Also you can do the whole jump out of the ring deal (I think you may get a yellow card, but it's better then losing).

When I see pride rules in ring ok but in cage no that what I see the difference.

@boogynights Maybe knees to a grounded opponent could be pretty devastating if your head is up against the cage, but why no elbows if your in a ring?

MMA fighting isn't real fighting as you said.... it's a sport like you said.. I'm not sure how many MMA fighters can successfully defend against a knife attack...

True, but it is a good simulation of unarmed combat. That is its foundation, that is its intent.
