liffit they do not deserve their bonuses but they can easily move to Switzerland and Hong Kong and make more money. Top end bankers are in demand all over the world. Our tax will generate £500 million from them but London has always been a financial centre and i would like it to stay like that.

It's cynical in a way that a government is against these big bonuses but at the same time is prepared to take a big chunk, lol They are going to separate the (gambling) side from peoples savings, can't see how this can be achieved!
One way is to make them perform regardless is... if they want to keep their jobs?

I think Sarkozy is just following Britons lead this was announced in our pre budget report a few weeks ago. It will not work as if companies move you have lost move than will be gained. Other ways to avoid it are to work 6 months in one country then move to another country for 6 months. If bonuses continue to be hit staff will ask for larger basic salaries and so there will be less incentive for them to make the banks money.

Sarkozy has just announced a 50% tax on bankers bonuses, good idea they are well paid already, they will find a way of circumventing this by moving offshore?

I had to laught at Bill O'Reilly when he wanted to boycott all things French because they didn't support Bush's Government.. Evidently O'Reilly wasn't smart enough to realize that the word "Government " is actually French.
