Ford's decision not to take bailout was a major reason why I bought a Ford. The second reason was patriotism. My Ford is the first domestic car I've ever bought.

@PJ8311961 So your fine with taking away the freedom of speech. As long as it is good for the Union. Particularly at Ford the UNION THUGS have been trying to encourage employees to take buy outs The unions have sold the workers out and destroyed innovation causing the Japanese cars to dominate a free market.

Birdodgizzy, unions are helping provide a middle class, yes wages are higher but what should we be poor and rich? People take low paying jobs because that is all there is. Companies aren't happy making good money, there is greed, so overseas they go and the good paying jobs with them. Don't hate the union worker and their fight for the middle class, because truth be told they support your way of life and vice versa. Glad you bought American made, sorry American made played dirty towards another

@robertha actually fords are made in many countries but the ones you buy here are made here. bmw's, toyota's, mercedes, and most "foreign " cars are also made in this country creating jobs in states which allow workers to choose for themselves whether or not to belong to a union.
Birdodgizzy..Until you walk in an auto workers shoe's you ought think you know how it is. Honestly the salary some of you people come up with is over the moon. The unions stand for something, they fight to keep what they fought for.Nothing wrong with that. Anyone who works hard should be able to do so. Auto workers have ups and downs in their line of work, often times feast or famine. You have to live it to understand it. Ford played dirty, it is Ford by the way that wants lots more. Educate.

@PJ8311961 Unions drive up the costs for people who consume the products they produce, create a culture of entitlement, and breeds mediocrity. Capitalism works; 90% of the US work force trades their talents/ideas for a wage that the firm is willing to pay. It's a mutual transaction. If a company decides to pay low wages for cheap labor, then it will produce inferior products. Consumers vote with their pocket books. Co. either improves product by paying for skilled labor or goes out of business

Seriously, Ford set at the same table as the other companies and said they wanted the door open if later they needed help.they wanted the option left open. The add was tacky and un called for. Pal on one hand you talk about being middle class buying from an Ameircan company and on the other hand you basically dog that company,.because they too have that UNION you claim destroyed the other companies. Fords union is the same as Chrysler and GM,.its UAW. They are middle class workers.Have RESPECT.

@PJ8311961 My major gripe towards Ford was that they buckled under WH pressure. My middle class heart bleeds for a UAW worker whose avg. salary is a $107K with 80% of there health ins. paid for. These same workers turn around and strike as if something more were owed to them besides the more than fair wages they receive. Ridiculous. Further, Ford has to negotiate with the UAW, while GM & Chrysler are exempt b/c they received bailout $. The fix was in. Respect is Earned, Never Given.
