You know the world is not flat. I hope you read the comment above. The origins of this song comes from England - Liverpool to be exact.
So, perhaps English folks should be upset with the Punters for recording the song in a jig style?

Why are people commenting here so offended that they are dancing? You all keep saying that it's a "Newfie song" -- but really it's a chantey, which is a WORK SONG and it hails from the days of the Western Ocean packet ships out of Liverpool. So: 1. Not a "Newfie song", even if this is a Canadian band who has adapted the chantey; 2. The band has made it sound like an Irish-ish DANCE song, with drum beats and jig rhythms. THEY are the ones that already "betrayed" the origin, meaning, and function.

I agree that this song is called 'Heave Away', but I was under the impression that this (particular) version was sung by 'The Irish Descendents'. Is that NOT correct?

No this one is by The Fables..But The Irish Descendents allso do this one. But when listen to the diffrent ver. Tha Fables does this one much better
