My '01 vino is sluggish after a good acceleration from 0~35mph. Any idea why all subsequent runs are sluggish until the powerband is finally hit?

  • No. The problem was with the torque spring. Replacing it resolved all sluggishness. As it heated up, it was weakening which caused the gearing to go into high way to fast.

  • I solved the issue with a new 1500 RPM torque spring. The other one was weak/damaged. Now... its very fast up to about 52mph with no sluggish spots.

  • I was doing these runs on about 1/8 mile asphalt straight on my driveway. The ground is flat. The sluggish acceleration always happens after the first time I get it up to speed, slow back down, and go again. Any ideas what is causing this sluggish acceleration?

  • I just installed the Malossi variator, Tecnigas Next R pipe, and kevlar belt; already had the Michelin oversize tires. First test ride I got 49 mph, but I'm gonna do some more tinkering.

Know anybody that's installed an up-gear? I think I have enough power to try it.

  • Did you upgrade the pipe and variator also or just the piston kit?

  • soak-clean the carb, have all the needles at the base settings?
