UCLA's Dr. Charles Grob discusses his research into the psychiatric and medical uses of psilocybin, also known as magic mushrooms, and cancer victim Pam Sakuda relates her feelings on why hallucinogens are kept from the public.

Related: A medical use for magic mushrooms - Johns Hopkins researchers reported in 2006 that the hallucinogen psilocybin, otherwise known as the sacred mushroom, caused a profound mystical experience in the majority of a group of 36 volunteers who took the drug in a laboratory setting. Two years later, the researchers re-interviewed the volunteers and found that the spiritual effects of the experience appear to last for more than a year. - http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/booster_shots/2008/07/a-medical-use-f.html

  • people should be free to explore there own minds with different substances, anyone who says otherwise is just trying to make your life boring and shit like theres is.

  • I'm all for the legalization of recreational use of magic mushrooms but I can't see how they would help a terminally ill person. How would hallucinating help? If anything the state they are in would make them susceptible to having a bad trip.

  • Magic mushrooms and peyote buttons are fine; nothing dangerous about consuming them moderately based on my experience.

  • so where can i get some shrooms?

  • @crazyboy0602 see you would think that, but not even. someone who is terminally ill will feel at peace with their condition. Magic mushrooms alow a complete perspective change and allows one to revit many happy moments in their life, almost re-living better times in life before their illness. Also, they would bring the patient to peace with the fact that they are crossing over soon, and if anything make them embrace it... shrooms teach you that death isnt the end but an entierly new beginning

  • Goverment will not legalize the mushrooms. As said in this video, it is not in the powers that be interests to do so. We as people need to stop waiting for the big brothers approval for everything we do. Take responsibelity of your own life. Maybe harder said than done, but mushrooms can help you to understand why it is required of you.

  • @crazyboy0602 ever had an amazing trip on shrooms? it's almost life changing

  • @crazyboy0602 maybe allow them to come to terms with death/change there view point on it,possibly give them a glimpse into what they believe will be the afterlife, dmt would certainly do this.

  • @crazyboy0602 it doesnt treat the illness but the anxiety.

  • aminita muscaria mushrooms are legal and they can kill you and contain wores stuff in it than magic mushrooms legalize all drugs stop the drug war

  • Legalize shrooms you goverment assholes.

  • @crazyboy0602 theres 3 parts of your body that are involved in a healing process; whether it be cancer or a flu (influenza)... theres physical, mental and just as important "SPIRITUAL"
