Here's a quick review of my new Das Keyboard Pro. The modern equivalent of the IBM Model M. It's a really great feeling keyboard; I actually feel that it types better than a Model M, which I know is blasphemy, but it's what I think.

The feel is achieved by it's mechanical, buckling-spring key mechanism.

  • just bought das keyboard today and love it

  • Just got this exact keyboard last month, and it is awesome. The Cherry MX Blues are a bit easier to type on than the buckling springs of my Model M, at least for me once I got used to them. A tad less "effort" I guess. I'm not the biggest fan of the glossy surface, but it's an incredible keyboard for both typing and gaming!

  • The Das Keyboard does not use a buckling spring mechanism. It uses Cherry "MX blue" switches, which have a distinctly different sound and feel. Real Model M keyboards with buckling spring keys are now being made by a company called Unicomp, who acquired the design rights from IBM/Lexmark.
