Hilary Hahn, Itzhak Perlman, Michael Rabin, and Gil Shaham play double harmonics from the third movement of Niccolò Paganini's Violin Concerto #1 in D major, Op. 6.

  • Hilary is the only one who actually PHRASES the harmonics.

  • But with music perfect time is not everything. Some could care less that Hilary is slower and that Accardo is fastest or in this group Shaham is fastest.

  • PERFETTO!

  • Hilary Hahn rocks!

  • No artistically being out of tune is not good. I allow for that more in jazz or gypsy music, but this is classical. If you've ever listened to someone sing flat you should know how much difference it makes.

There are many great violinists around. In this group Hilary Hahn is best. She also has a very comprehensive and difficult repertoire. Korngold, Schoenberg, Bach, Paganini, etc.

    "The Village" soundtrack...excellent.

I like some that are fairly unknown. Try Winterconcertfanclub's channel

  • Harmonics are imitating people whistling. So people rarely bother if they are perfectly in tune when they whistle , like coming home from the pub. "Excuse me my friend but you are whistling out of tune"--Wallop! That`s how you get a fat lip. So---artistically ---a bit out of tune is better. Discuss.

  • Shaham is also slightly flat. If you think of his violin whistling a tune...listen to how out of pitch the whistle is.

  • I agree Hilary is #1. She literally makes the violin whistle with sweet accuracy and musicality. Perlman is an awful whistler...staccato and not sweet at all.

Alright, I'm not a violinist. Just stating my finely tuned ears delicate sensitivities. LOL

  • music isn't really about playing fast nor playing perfect but it is about making the music yours although playing in perfect pitch and fast makes it interesting but in my personal opinion Hilary Hahn is the best because she takes care about the sound quality what is one of the most important things in music and she doesn't have to demonstrate to anyone that she can play faster because she obviously can but she makes HER OWN VERSION

  • 1. Hilary Hahn

    2. Gil Shaham

    3. Michael Rabin

    4. Itzhak Perlman
