In 1971, tobacco advertising left television forever. Before then, Fred and Barney were producing their own commercials, brought to you by Winston. Although this series was highly viewed by adults, children couldn't help being attracted.

Grew up watching the reruns when they were old, and it's still such an awesome show 20 years *after* that. I just wish they'd kept these ads so I could look as cool as Barney, with deformed ears and a foot-long Winston to take my mind off them (took me twelve years to decide those were ears and not prehistoric jawbones, or tumors, or just arbitrary stylistic bumps).

What really annoys me is how horrible this commercial is. Nobody uses a product and then goes on to spend half a minute glowingly praising it to someone who already knows what it is. Will advertisers ever fucking figure that out?
