Why do the Hindi politicians who control the Indian Government refuse permission to install Emperor Raja Raja Cholan's statue within the outer walls of the Thanjai Big Temple?

British took the wealth from India, but did not destroy any of India's temples or archeological monuments.

During the Mugul period, the muslim kings destroyed lots of Hindu temples, including the famous Madurai Meenakshi temple.

Some temples were rebuilt during 17th century.

thats truth, Britishers haven't distroyed ancient temples, but what I know is they intentionally misinterpritted ancient scriptures to western society and played mind game among Indians by saying Hinduism is foreign and Aryans invasion theory which later proved false and those who supported it before, clearify it.

@yathooo *** I know your intention is noble but think, if a school or knowledge based building was built at that time, todays politicians would have made it into a government office or a library which would only be useful to the educated. This temple is the source of income for many poor families today!!

@chica476 which academian you are talking about? its false proven wrong by many. Only reason its still popular is people want it be like that. Its a super mythical story in my view. Recently Gypsies from East Europe who were thought to be from Egyptians were traced to Rajasthani Banjare, but they still do call them gypsy. Once established thought take while to diminish.

South Indians had great knowledge of metallurgy .They had known to extract Zinc from its ore nearly 4000 years before anyone else. Plus the also knew how to make rust free Iron. Which we still couldn't make in this century

These kings were non-brahmins. Today Tamilians watch Christian programs on Tamil channels which would  make Rajaraja vomit. Gandhi wanted somebody to translate Tamil texts for him so he could learn his OWN heritage. Why Swami Narayan and Chaitanya Prabhu made pilgrimage to TN. And yet today Kanyakumari district is 50% Christian. We can never see the bank accounts of politicans and who funds them. But we can see Karunanidhi calling Hindu as thief and insulting Rama Perumal. TN commiting suicide!

@ironwillgachi - Taj Mahal was not built by Shah Jahan, it was hindu temple dedicated to Lord Shiva of hinduism & its name was Tejo Mahalaya... No other mughal built or occupied monuments have a similiar name to " Taj Mahal", which is not Arabic which was the only languague used in mughal nomenclature like Qutub-e-minar, Charminar etc. etc....
