PART 1 OF 2. Famous story-song Tommy and Liam sang and acted during their 13 year career. You can find another version recorded a few months after this on cassette and LP on "The Makem & Clancy Concert." The song had to be omitted from the CD version. February 1977.

  • @MobyD46 Gordon Bok is one of my favorite musicians! Also love The Clancy Brothers and Tommy Makem (raised on all of this stuff!). I think Liam Clancy is one of the finest singers of our time.

  • This song brings a tear to my eye....my brother who passed away in 2005 took me to see Liam and Tommy in the Belfast Opera house in the late 70's and this is the first time i've heard this song since....it always stuck in my mind since that night...really good to finally hear it after all these years.......Miss and love you Jim and i hope you're listening. Rest In Peace.xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

  • This is a wonderful telling of "Peter Kagan and the Wind," written and originally recorded by Gordon Bok of Camden, Maine. Gordon's version, on the album of the same name, is available from Amazon.com. Makem and Clancy are better known than Gordon Bok, so I'm pleased they included this storysong in their repertoire.

  • My favorite Makem and Clancy song/story. It's a shame this isn't on the cd.

  • Saw them in Toronto almost 30 years ago...still brings a shiver to my spine and a tear to my eye....the planet lost something special when these artists passed...R.I.P. and know you have touched many with something that will outlast us all...

  • Allmusic has M&C recording it "Jul 25, 1977-Jul 30, 1977"

  • I saw them perform this once in LA. It was beautiful and haunting, we were all spellbound. I never forgot this song. Thanks for the chance to hear it again!~~bernadette...

  • Rest in Peace Liam & Tommy......you both made the world a better place! God Bless

  • Thank you MBTS, for posting this classic! It was when I was when I was 1/2 the age that you are now that I first heard this and now I look at 40, wondering what it will be like, never before imagining that I would see it at all.

Very haunting tune, one that will lead one through this life and onward...

    Thanks again!!

    :)
