@allenialee Ok, so this allows you to play, but not with the 1.6 updates if you overwrite the files that the server generates when it's attempting to create a level. When asked if you want to replace the existing files, say 'No'.

If you still have your old world, copy the files from your old world's 'region' folder to your new world's 'region' and 'DIM-1' folders. Then start your server again. That fixed it for me :)
