Scott Bakula recorded a speech like Picard's and Kirk's introduction which said "where no HUMAN has gone before" just before the start of series 3 with plans to create an entirely new intro but the production team decided to scrap it and continue with the original enterprise song.

yep, you're right, i think it is a good ending, although not a perfect one. Would be better, if they showed Riker and Troi in the USS Titan or the Enterprise E, instead of the Ent D, cause they already look old :-P
