I'm trying to do something like that.. A hall sensor responses to magnets, amiright?
Those nuts are obviously no magnets, so how did you get the sensor to tell the difference? how did you hook it up?

@y0utub3rt Hey you are right about hall effect sensors responding to magnetic fields. We had a magnet embedded beneath the plate under the hall effect sensor. As a steel nut of different size passes it, it generates a different voltage. Hope that helps.

a hall effect sensor and mechanical "fingers" to sense the height of the nuts as they create a short across the base of the sorter and the finger while passing by.
