It would be terrific to see an interchange between Ken Robinson and Neil deGrasse Tyson. The "two cultures" coming together...

It just depends on where you watch. He has a video on TED with over 12 million views and YouTube probably has more 8 year old watchers than TED TV.

Well ok. I've been sitting home for the sake of helping my kid to start his school the most fluently and successfully, and now who the hell merely cares about my tallents. Frankly, nobody did even before that, it's just that I'm gonna do the same job 1,5 less money.

What is the context for this? If you look at the demographics for who watches TED talk videos you'll find that it's mostly males between the ages of 30-60

the revolution- things we take for granted that just are not true... 1. predators are the top of the food chain.. yet they are the first to die off and they are the most dependent part of the food chain. who is really thriving the lions or the wildebeest. pray needs predator to keep them from overpopulating their habitat because they are so successful at surviving. squirrels, buffalo, big horn sheep, conquer new habitats. predators always adapt second. so who leads, who's king..

if the education system has done nothing but destroy critical thinking and breed conformity, what does that say about the people who did good in the educational system and became successful... hmm. are the the most educated deserving of the respect they get or are the just good at obeying orders... do they have the right to look down on poorer or less educated people who just didn't bend to authority as easily. Does that degree mean your smart or that you have permission to make more money.

has anyone stopped and thought what happened to all the people (those kids grown up) that are victims of the educational system. the geniuses that became beggars, felons, poor, drunks and drug addicts. did it every occur that Ken's philosophy implies the people you look down on may be smarter and better at your job than you. you feel bad about the kids who are getting their souls crushed by the system but not the millions of adults with crushed souls.

The world of academia is like drinking from a firehose. Present and future students need to know as much about "how to study" as they do the material presented to them. Even knowing how to ask for help os difficult for some people. When the "how to study" aspect is taught as diligently as any other class is presented, students will gain and maintain a better focus and feel better about what they are attempting to accomplish.
