Doc Ellis, from NYC, are best known for their grooves that make you move, and for kickin' out the jams until it's way past your bedtime; think John Scofield and George Clinton jammin' at ?uestlove's house party in the sky. These funky players exploded onto the scene in the summer of 2006 and have since logged in time at famed New York City venues like Kenny's Castaways, Coda, Rockwood Music Hall, The Knitting Factory (Old Office and Main Space), Fontana's and The Lion's Den, where they performed as part of the 2006 CMJ Music Marathon. Out-of-state appearances include gigs at UMass Amherst, in Amherst, MA, and at the legendary Nectar's, in Burlington, VT. They have shared the stage with Moonshine Still, The Breakfast, The Codetalkers, Outformation, Licorice, Topaz, Papa Mali, Devon Allman's Honeytribe, NBFB, Jounce and many others. Members of Doc Ellis have opened for Blue Note recording artist Amos Lee.
