Not sure if you have heard of U.V resin.......Its used in fabricating surf boards with which iam very familiar with. It saves the hassel of havein to wait for it to cure. You did work our of a garage. The way to do it is to close all the doors etc and when you are done glassing you kick on some UV lights and its sandable fiberglass and resin in a matter of minutes.

cool vid, i tried that on my bike but couldnt find foam. so i just cut my seat, sanded the foam and recovered the seat. came out great

Man I made a seat just like you showed, . Other people that has made em said it would be to hard but you made it easy for me with the exact directions i did show them up with a bad ass seat. A fabricator said it looked just like what he done after 20 yrs so hell yea.

You dont have to have UV lights....its just the way its done in shops that mass produce fiber glassed products.....if all the doors all closed up while your glassing when you are done all you have to do is open doors to let light in....or for a faster kick you need to wheel it outside the garage.....sunny day or not the UV rays from the sun will make it harden really fast.... 5-10 min and its completly sandabel....really awsome stuff.

There's a few ways you could mount it. You can make a tab which will slide into the loop already on the frame. Then, use a tab of industrial velcro on the back. I've also just used the velcro along the edges. In this case, you'd sew the velcro to the lining glued to the back (even though it is self adhesive). The adhesive sticks well to the frame, but less so to the lining (either heavy felt, or car trunk carpet). Only use industrial velcro - (available at Home Depot)

Thanks for the video, Yamaha V stars have the worst seat from the factory. I did this last night and it worked perfect. The liberal coat of wax is crucial for a good release, and I pulled it before the fiber got totally cured. Starting the foam this weekend.
