This is Roberta's most impressive repertory piece. It's NOT scat, but more challenging. Roberta has transcribed--note for note, in the register of each respective horn--the solos of Sonny Stitt, Dizzy Gillespie and Sonny Rollins (Stitt's name comes up at the end of his solo). Listen to the original Gillespie Verve recording -- "Sonny Side Up." She's got it down to the precise minute and second. I'm afraid Griffin and any other horn players are superfluous on this number.
