VICTORIA - The Campbell government made its first move to ease the pain of the Harmonized Sales Tax today. The change means new home buyers will spend more on a new house and still qualify for a rebate for the provincial portion of the HST .Finance Minister Colin Hansen says the new rebate threshold will increase to $525,000 from $400,000.The NDP calls it cosmetic surgery on a bad tax.
