@SFintheHouse that's innacurate, Madonna was dance from the get go "Everybody" is a disco song mixed with punk,the original burning up 12" Version (not the album) was dance not new wave, and so was Holiday her first release was a full dance album. further more, Like A Virgin, Lucky Star, Keep It Together, Who's That Girl, all 80s singles got more significant R&B airplay than the 90s. The remix you talk about changing a song completely from the album version wouldn't start until 1992
