..Of the initial inventory that "3" received, 500 of them are allocated to the individuals who pre-ordered and "chosen". These 500 individuals will have until end-of-business on Friday (HK time) to purchase the iPhone 3G. After which the allocation will go to the next person in the per-order list.
Plus these 500 individuals were asked which model of the iPhone 3G (including colour) they like to purchase, on Friday they must purchase the model and colour previously specified...

BTW: The pre-order list, is actually a list of individuals who showed interest in the past several weeks.
PS: I am not one of these 500 individuals or the insider allocations. So I have no idea when I will be able to get an iPhone 3G.
In my opinion, this really ruin the excitement associated with Apple product launch. Initially I thought we (HKer) can finally experience the excitements, so many others with local Apple store experienced during a product launch. I guess I was wrong.

As far as I know all iPhones available through the local carrier, "3", have been spoken for. Both through pre-order and insider allocations...
