Can the characters we create turn around and give us meaning... or even the illusion of meaning? Must there be 'a' meaning to life? The question isn't 'passion,' 'drive,' or 'interest,'... it's 'meaning'.

  • @FreeMenDieFree Good argument.

  • @40something100 Very interesting perspective and relevant to all.

  • pat didn't ask what is the meaning of life he asked what was the purpose of life, why am i here? the answer is all incompassing to everyone, because the answer is the same for everyone. we are here to prepare ourselves for death. it is the only thing that every human being has in common. so we each must ask ourselves am i ready to die today? noone knows when their death will occur, but it is inevitiable. prepare yourself for the inevitiable.

  • @darksurvivor00 By the same token being punished for a crime does not mean that crime is wrong. There is a massive amount of evidence from all over the world that would suggest murder is against the law. There is no evidence that murder is wrong.

  • "Either we love or we die." W. H. Auden. "Love is not all; it is not meat nor drink...Yet many a man is making friends with death / Even as I speak, for lack of love alone." Edna St. Vincent Millay. Both 20th century poets If "God is Love" then St. Augustine is right, "You made us for yourself, O Lord, and our hearts are restless until they rest in you."

Man is made for union with another! Who is this "Other"? C.S. Lewis, at first an atheist, wrote many books on Christianity.

  • Everything is relative, even existence. For whom is life relevant? for life ofcourse, I could imagine that in some way something could benefit from "lifes" existence, but like any mathematical endless theory this "something" would also exist for someone elses sake. So this quest to find out what the meaning of life is for "you" or life is kinda pointless behond since you allready now the answer, unless this search give you great joy and meaning to your own life. :)

  • The meaning of any form of life or just "life" is to survive or exist, since lifes existence require movement in difference to "dead" things like rocks. If life didn't survive it wouldn't exist. Rocks would still exist however. So do life need to exist? No, does rocks need to exist? No. Rocks only need to exist for the sake of life, just like life only ned to exist for itself. If they don't exist it's the "end of the world."

  • The meaning of human life is to stay alive, we do that through reproduction, thus is the meaning of human life is to reproduce offspring. Religion can be a tool in some societys to achive one social culture that bring some kind of stability or birthground for that. But religion with believs in suprficial stuff like trolls, gods etc have developed those explanations in order to make this tool to work. The tool of states with laws works just fine, especially since we can explain things w science.

  • @metalheadedsaint

You can see air. Are you fucking blind??? You just need to look a bit further then your fucking hand.

An Agnostic, that understands why religion and morality is important.
