lol.. typical.. I also heard the last C-17 crew will be flown home in a C-130... its all ego.
The initial strategy is the 135 fleet going to the Reserves while the KC-767 is brought into Active service. Once the
KC-X is finished, KC-Y will come online, and the best chance it will be the KC-777, since the 767 can not come close to the capacities of the KC-10's

Thanks for the memories! I'm really loving all the -135 videos on YT. My last flight as a boom was in April '88 at K.I. Sawyer....long before the days of "glass cockpits" and only a few units flew R-models. I knew a young navigator named Twain Mobley while stationed at Ellsworth in the early 80's. Are you related?

@huey187 Nice man. You must see those guys fly all the time huh?

@19Pilot hey cool i live near rickenbacker

@htmobley Yes I do know a pilot at Rickenbacker and I have stayed in contact with him for almost a year. I have visited him there and met some other people as well. All I have to do now is take the AFOQT and TBAS and I'll be ready to go.
Nice Vid! Im a half year away from graduating with my Bachelors degree in aviation and I am hoping to fly these in the Air Guard at Rickenbacker AFB. Any suggestions???

@19Pilot Do you know anyone currently flying with the unit at Rickenbacker? Have you made contact? It's a good idea to start working with them as early as possible, as competing for and securing a pilot slot may take years.

When are the USAF planning on retiring the KC-135?

@EPICwhalezz --- It depends on many factors. When will the replacement tanker come on line? Will the tanker develop any major grounding problems (corrosion problems seem to be a hot topic). Even if some were to be sent to the boneyard, I believe that a good portion will continue to fly for 20-30 more years.
