  • The color of the set (and costumes) is a bit too depressing (outside the rainbow of course)==they needed to open it up with either different paints or light spots or a little glitter ( I do like the textures, however). The over use of dark grey is just too much--but this production set is jolly compared to the depressing trash of 'concept directors' of today. The inmates are running the asylum.

  • Fabulous--but you should all know that Wagner took great liberties with Nordic legends to fashion his immortal operas. In operas the gods are thieving and greedy. In the legends and in today's Asatru following, they are wise and represent good qualities (ie hospitality and honesty)--and they did not die out at the end of Gotterdammering. They are still with us!!!

  • The most magic moment of the whole Ring cycle is when Donner summons the vapors and swings his hammer to build Bifrost, the Rainbow Bridge. Epic! He seems to be the only one who is not involved in all the treachery and hypocrisy.

Tolkien was certainly inspired by the Rheingold opera. It would be the perfect music for the Silmarillion!

  • @LeRinkRat It is the best isn't it. Puts to shame the modernist horror prod.'s in Baryeuth (ironically) and elsewhere.

  • @TheVaughan5 You are SO right!! Read my post.

  • @LeRinkRat The one with Birgit Nilsson as Brunnhilde, and George London as Wotan is the best!

  • @windstorm1000 Preach!

  • EPIC!

  • I don't know ... Loge looks more like a burn victim rather than a demigod. Should have worn a blonde wig.

  • This production was so beautiful, I miss it so much.
