This originally had no soundtrack, so I added some hits from the year 1954 when this was filmed ending up with the final song which ushered in a 'new era' in music!

  • All I did was add some hit records from 1954 to film that someone else shot. I think it makes the original silent footage more evocative to mix in some #1 hit songs from that year. You must have seen a lot of changes to your hometown over the years!

  • A great view of "the calm before the storm" in Detroit. There were two separate worlds in Detroit back then struggling to co-exist....... the predominantly White working class on the East and West sides, along with the predominantly Black sections of "Black Bottom" on the southeast side and the southwest sides. My parents used to go to "Black and Tan" jazz clubs in Detroit during the 1940's to hear Be-Bop jazz sitting among a racially mixed audience. Unfortunately, it got ugly in the 1960's.

  • The year of my birth in my hometown! Thank you!
