ご存知アリジゴクはウスバカゲロウの仲間の幼虫。すり鉢状の巣から獲物に逃げられそうになると潜んでいる穴から砂をかける。大きさの比較対照として巣穴近くに10円玉を置いた(直径23mm)。
Great Escape from the Sandpit of Antlions. Ten-yen coin of 23mm in diameter was placed as a scale reference. Recorded on late-August, 2006 in Japan.

  • antlions are cool, they dig their pits to be steep enough so that the prey cant get out, but not so steep that the trap collapses.

    a very good video.

  • thx for nice comment!

look up the entry "angle of repose" in wikipedia.

u can read an interesting story "Exploitation by antlion larvae" there.

  • lol they keep running away...nice vids im looking forward for more!

  • hello there.

as for the question u asked in the top of my channel, i am not an expert on antlions and i know nothing 'bout the life cycle of aussie species.

    but according to antlionfarms[.]com,

"Ant Lion larva have been known to live anywhere from one to three years. Then they cocoon themselves for about a month, and emerge as a winged adult ant lion."

    check out the faqs there.

i guess if u give them enough meals, they would pupate sooner.

  • btw, did u see the moulting of ur pet antlion?

see all
