As tears fall from my eyes i love this film the ending so powerfull & uplifting i read the book years later the same feeling overwashed me again ;-)

I lost my cat too, just yesterday. Thought of the beautiful ending to my favorite book--helping me through a tough time.

Perfect ending to a damned magnificent film. What I've always loved about this film is that it didn't pander or dumb down. It was challenging for children, introducing them to concepts of fear, death and endurance in a way that nothing else I can think of managed. Absolute classic.

@JinRenegade Funny you should say that. My cats happen to be named Fiver and Hyzenthlay.

At first Hazel was all like "Imma old and tired" but then he was all like
FLY INTO THE SUN
LIKE A BAWSS
NOW I'M DEAD!
LIKE A BAWSS!

It's been 7 months since my cat died, and I've come back again to this video to remember.

Right - actually this beautiful music is on the OST album - it's track 9, "Climbing the Down".

Such a poignant, yet beautiful ending to the film and the book. I've been crying at this too - pausing at 1:01 to see the old, tired Hazel about to meet his maker. The background music is brilliant - but it doesn't seem to be on the OST album, unfortunately. Thank you so much for posting.

Oh my god why do I cry like this?!
My cat just died and I suddenly remembered this ending and came to watch it here.
