The National Big Band of Wales, directed by Byron Jenkins, plays "Be still my soul" at their Big Band Gospel concert on 24th November 2007 at the Salvation Army, Canton, Cardiff.
The concert was for charity and £1,258 was raised for the Isubilo AIDS Community and Resource Centre in Zambia
Brave! That's what I can say for sure. The Finlandia-hymn, how we now this hymn in Finland, is a sort of soft point for Finnish people and it certainly is brave to go and make a new arrangement of it. And a swing-version...
But, I did like it. This hymn always makes my eyes wet, and so did this version at first. Then it made me almost to laugh! Thank you National Big Band of Wales! It was an experiment to listen. Just maybe don't play it on tuor in Finland... =)
