I designed the house myself with no formal training, just common sense & models(see my other youtube video) Almost anyone can do similar work by following their instincts.

  • who's the artist playing? It's really a great song.

  • Who is the artist??? LOVE THE HOUSE!!! GOOD FOR YOU!!!

  • so beautiful

  • @ricomireziii Mike Oehlers book did inspire me. I didn't use any professionals but got help/learned from people who had done floor framing & drywall.I built all the wooden stairs & counters wiring, plumbing, myself. My other video shows more detail about history of this project.-Earth Sheltered Solar House from recycled barn beams

  • @frechele I have watched this video like ten times. I love your house. You said you designed it but did you pay professionals to build it? I have been reading Mike Oehler's work and this seems like a spin on that but much more beautiful.

  • @555gypsie I originally dreamt of building beside a 3 acre pond we dug on our farm but realized it would have to be built more like a boat & engineering it would cost too much floating in clay so I found a rocky hilltop, cleared the trees & built it high & dry on the rock.

I think you could build on flat land but should have the house above the water table at all times of the year

  • I love the tiered roofs. Have you considered planting all kinds of flowers or veggies there instead of grass, or does it rain enough? Is it hard to mow the roofs? Cool house.!

  • @frechele Do you need a slope ,did you choose a specific piece of land which was hilly .I wouldn't mind building the same in Europe but i have some flat land

  • cool video!
