Take a ride on a short freight as seen from a flat car at the rear of the train pulled by a Bachmann 4-6-0.

  • I don't know about LGB or Aristo-Craft locos or rolling stock. LGB is out of my price range and doesn't offer models I want and Aristo-craft doesn't offer models in my scale as far as I know. I model in 1:22.5. A-C is 1:29. I modify my engines, so Bachmann is best for me. I'm running two 4-6-0s, two 2-4-2s and a 0-6-0. I had to replace a bushing on the 0-6-0 and a pin on the valve gear of a 4-6-0. As I wrote earlier, the newer Bachmann offerings have improved. No probs w/rolling stock.

  • Bachmann engines have improved over the years. They do make repairs and/or replace engines at their Philadephia address. I have one of the newer engines and three older models. I have made repairs on an older 4-6-0 from parts of engines given to me by friends going to the larger scale G.

  • Do you have any idea how long does Bachmann last? Is it good quality? what material was the track made from?

  • @papaguagua I'm not sure of the actual composition. I use both Aristo-craft and LGB track. I use stainless steel joiners and add a grease like substance to hekp with conductivity. The undersides of the turnouts where the contact are need this to prevent rusting out. It's made by JB.

  • Wow! Great video as well as layout.

  • Good thing I did the video, because the layout has been dismantled as the owner is moving.

  • i must say, you have an amazing railroad!

  • @railhappy I see. So Bachmann models are bigger than A-C's. Do you spend a lot of time maintaining your Bachmann models? Would you recommend this brand to a beginner in G gauges trains, like me? :)

  • @railhappy I heard from some G gauge forums that the Bachmann products do not last very long. The quality is not as good as LGB, USAT, and Aristo-Craft. Is that true?
