He went on a hiatus because people were saying he was going insane. People kept saying he was doing heavy drugs and just strait up making stuff up because of what he did on the TV show and how he acted and the fact that he turned down the money. He likes the fame and attention, but he doesn't like the gritty side, the part that turns stars into villains like he said in his interview awhile back. He likes the attention when hes on stage, he said it makes him for at home. Happy.

@megamixa nooooo! katt coming inbetween the acts. and it's my idea to had chappelle deal with other comedians don't u think he gets tired of all the spotlight on him thats why he went on hiatus becus of all the publicity and hype. somewhat like chris tucker and richard pryor done did in the 90's.

Dave chappelle coming in between acts? Dave Chappelle doesn't need to be on stage with other comedians. He could talk about Politic's for 2 weeks strait and it would still be the funniest thing you ever heard, and you would learn something at the same time. He just needs a mic, and a audience and hes a one man show, hes got dance moves, hes got voices, hes got tricks. What else do you want lol.

Can you really watch this video and call Dave Chapelle "crazy" with a straight face? It's funny, the guy chose his principles over money, something we supposedly respect here in America, and yet all we do is call him crazy for it.
