*STEREO*. The Chantays play "Wayward Nile" from their 1963 album 'Pipeline'. A truly wonderfully haunting and atmospheric instrumental, you don't have to be a surf fan to appreciate it. That rippling piano is hypnotic through stereo headphones. I feel like I've died and gone to stereo reverb-vibrato heaven.

  • @GeorgiaBoy1961 Couldn't tell you what our guitar player does on that, I'm playing rhythm on it. He doesn't use any pedals or effects really, so it's probably just picking technique, not sure what a delay would do....... It's worth learning, especially if you have a keyboard player you can work it in with.......

  • @MarkinDC: Re: "My band does Pipeline sometimes and people always love it." I've been playing guitar for years, but never learned "Pipeline." Does your guitar player used a delay to handle the song or does he cover it with picking technique only? Do you know which? If so, I'd love to know... thanks and keep playing those great old tunes!

  • @Cometsamba: Standards were high back in the old days (goodness I sound like a grumpy old man saying that!), but it is true. Professionalism was the norm, and you were expected to look, act and play the part. You had to know your axe and the tunes, otherwise you got sent home... or fined, like James Brown and Ray Charles used to do.

  • Great tune
