  • Torture doesn't work because anyone being tortured will do and say ANYTHING to get the torture to stop, unless you're incredibly tolerant to pain or something, and it's method which encourages truth.

Considering how many forms of torture used over the years, and how much of it provided actual true, useful information... you'd think people would have figured that shit out a long time ago.

Especially after Vietnam... why would we even CONSIDER torture as an option. Did we forget about that?

  • I hate people advocating torture who have no idea what it is actually like (most people). I doubt many of those who support torture would have the heart to do it or even watch it happen.

  • It's effective if Jack Bauer's involved.

  • Haha. This is obviously a dated video and proves that in the title, that The Young Turks have no idea what they are talking about. Which is why MSNBC has shown them some attention. Liberalism is a mental disorder.

  • Hahaha Waterboarding worked!!

Two terroristed gave up info about Osama's courier during enhanced interrogations.

Proof that you are an idiot as well as obama

  • @PalmyBruce -Bob Baer, Former CIA Agent with extremely high success rate

  • @PalmyBruce "When Stalin asked the KGB to find out how to make an atomic bomb, the KGB didn't kidnap and torture American and British scientists. It recruited spies. And Stalin got his bomb."

  • @robbiec2490 "Or the attacks are so closely timed that it is impossible to stop them. For instance, had we arrested one of the 9/11 teams, there would not have been enough time to physically coerce its members into telling us about the other three hijacking teams."

  • Another thing the Israelis learned is that the "ticking bomb" scenario so popular on shows like 24 is a false choice. Any terrorist group capable of carrying off a sophisticated attack knows enough to "compartmentalize" its attack — the operatives are told only what they need to know.

  • Much as I fear and detest the idea of torture, surely if the subject discloses otherwise secret information which is then checked, revealing the location of people or things otherwise unknown, then it must work. Lying will of course distract, but I can't believe that all the information wrung out of all subjects is just lies. A lot of it must be defeated humans coerced to give valuable facts that the desperately hope may end the suffering when proven to be true.

  • Khalid Sheikh Mohammed should be dragged to the middle of the World Trade Center Ground Zero. Then they should break both of his legs with a bat and light him on fire!! He has and deserves no rights after what he did! Torture has been a useful tactic forever, and in some cases is successful. Obviously not all people will squeal, but i think it is worth a try!

  • the 8th amendment deals with cruel and unusual punishment with regards to crimes committed already

of course, the torture of this man was unsuccessful, however the constitution does not state whether the use of torture is inherently unconstitutional as well as relative court cases
