the usa's national symbol is the eagle, same as the Roman Empire. USA's government system is very identical to the roman senate and republic. The idea of Rome and a all-powerfull empire is still present to this day. exept, everyone wants to be that 'all-powerfull Rome'

@ZenMoodi They could, but didn't have the justification. You are talking about the first world war, after which Britain got the middle east under its administration and could do whatever they wanted. However I doubt whether the second world war was going completely by plan or not.
