Euclid's book `The Elements' is the most famous and important mathematics book of all time. To begin to lay the foundations of geometry properly, we first have to make contact with Euclid's thinking. Here we look at the basic set-up of Definitions, Axioms and Postulates, and some of the highlights from Books I,II and III.

@dicker70 The Greeks did bring together vast amounts of knowledge in Alexandria. I'll give them that. Alexandria was very culturally diverse as port cities frequently are, which no doubt contributed greatly to intellectual activity. I am no fan of ancient Greek (Hellenic) Imperialism or of U.S. Imperialism, but the searchlight of knowledge and open inquiry is a vital flame we need if we are not to sink back into barbarism.

@kaderoder Interesting response! Actually, when I wrote it, I called the poem "The Point." However, by analogy to the geometric point, a point in time could be defined as having "position but no duration." just as a point in space can be defined as having "position but no size." So I think you've solved my riddle in verse very well! Thanks for stimulating some thought! May your days not be pointless!

I don't understand, why the Greeks had to go to egypt, after alexander's invasion, create a library, the alexandria library, in order for them to "create" all this knowledge.
It's like saying, the american had to invade Iraq, create a library in bagdad , in order to develop the String-Theory.
It doesn't make sense to me.

Very nice presentation! Thanks! Ponder the following if you will:
I have no size, but by extension,
I'm the mother of dimensions.
Subtle soul of abstract form:
From me, all of space is born.
I am the child of introspection.
Reason balks at my conception.
Filling all your everywhere,
I hide, invisible, as air! WHO AM I?
