TRAZOW :: math metal moiré as a title fits the challenging and ambiguous nature of the wind-powered sculpture project that this half-hour documentary chronicles.
With the girth of a motorhome, this completed assemblage of steel and synthetics stood above the dozens of transformed automobiles decorated for the Art on Wheels Buffalo Niagara exhibit from May through October, 2003.
Buffalo State College staff artisans Stephen Saracino and Robert Dray, with the help of friends, applied their expertise to complete the art object in time for a fateful public auction. The widescreen documentary uses digital and silver photographs, on-location live action video, and interviews to show their ingenuity at its witty best.
Produced by John P. Weiksnar with support from New York State Council on the Arts, Niagara Arts Council and Lockport Community Cable Commission (2003, 1:24, DV25 video)
Listen, before you jump to conclusions, this trailer has nothing to do with the "musical" genre MATH METAL.
In 2003, the title of the work was set as "TRAZOW :: math > metal > moiré" . . . but YouTube would not allow all of the typographical characters in a title field.
