Dear friends, The field team remains in N'djamena, unable to fly out to the camps due to delays in getting their permits.

We often hear that we live in a highly connected society. Indeed, we don't think twice about being able to hear the voices of our friends and family at a moment's notice. Why then, does it take two lengthy and costly flights, a few days waiting in the capital, another hard-to-get-on flight, then an hour on dirt roads by Land Cruiser -- to hear the voices of people who should have a very loud voice in the world right now?

You are the voice of the people of Darfur. Without you, it becomes all too easy for the distractions of the day to drown out this voice, from the city streets to the hallways of power. You are the "never again". Please continue to live and embody these two words.

Today's action:

In the United States, 2008 is an election year. For the international refugee community, 2008 is the year of Protection. In one week, on June 20th, we celebrate World Refugee Day, and kick-off a year focused on the theme of protection to cover or shield from exposure, injury, damage, or destruction. We, as Global Citizens, need to remind our leaders of our Responsibility to Protect. Remind President Bush of his responsibility to ensure full deployment of a full UNAMID force or call 1-800 GENOCIDE. Join STAND's Presidential Legacy Campaign.

Plan to take Action on June 20th, World Refugee Day:

Host an i-ACTivist Viewing Party

Participate in demonstrations to headquarters and retail outlets of the 2008 Olympic Sponsor

Part of Tents of Hope? Participate in Tents of Hope World Refugee Day Actions!

Yuen-Lin, for the i-ACT team
